Hamilton Takes Both Wins at Lausitz
Lewis Hamilton romped to victory in this morning's second F3 Euroseries race at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz in Germany
The ASM driver grabbed the advantage from polesitter Paul di Resta on the run to the opening corner and pulled out a lead of almost two seconds on the first lap alone. Thereafter he controlled the race, keeping the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner at arm's length. He extended the margin to almost six seconds by the finish.
Franck Perera started third on the grid but overshot the first corner, almost taking out di Resta in the process. He recovered but could not better sixth, behind third-placed Adrian Sutil, Lucas di Grassi and Guillaume Moreau. Sutil's result confirmed his runner-up position in the championship.
Hamilton said: "It wasn't the easiest race for me because my back was hurting quite badly every time I accelerated. I don't know what the problem is - maybe it's a trapped nerve or something - but it was really sore. I knew Paul would be quick and I had to get past him at the start. My tyres started to go off mid-race so Paul reeled me in a bit, but I had enough at the end."
Di Resta was satisfied with his strongest result of his rookie season in F3 Euroseries. "It's good to be on the podium - first would have been better, of course, but second is still a good result. Lewis was just too quick for me today. We go to Hockenheim for the final two races and we were strong there earlier this year so hopefully we can go one better."
