Faccin to join British F3 at Silverstone

Former Italian Formula Renault frontrunner Michele Faccin will make his British F3 debut at Silverstone next weekend

The 19-year-old Italian, who won races in Italian FRenault and finished ninth in the Eurocup last year, will race a second Dallara Mugen-Honda F307 in the National Class for Team West-Tec on August 15/16.

Faccin will partner regular driver Max Snegirev, in a car built up using parts from the Dallara used by Le Mans Series racer Andy Meyrick to win races in the National Class last year.

Faccin, who has been racing for the Hache squad in European F3 Open (nee Spanish F3) this season, said: "I know the people behind Team West-Tec well and I know they do a really good job at engineering a fast car so I am really looking forward to it.

"I won't have much chance to try the car before the actual race meeting but I am looking forward to racing at Silverstone where I have enjoyed racing in the past."

Faccin finished fourth in a Formula Renault Eurocup race at Silverstone last season, albeit on the GP circuit rather than the International layout he will race in F3. He also beat both National Class pacesetters Daniel McKenzie (Fortec) and Gabriel Dias (T-Sport) in the championship.

West-Tec co-team boss John Miller added: "I am delighted to welcome Miky to the team. He is a fast driver who should do well.

"Clearly he hasn't got the British F3 experience of McKenzie and Dias but I am sure he won't take long to get to their pace, and hopefully beyond."
