F3 Masters victor Felix Rosenqvist tops first practice at Silverstone

Felix Rosenqvist carried his F3 Masters-winning form to top the opening practice session of F3 Euro Series visit to Silverstone this weekend

The Mucke Motorsport man, currently fifth in the championship standings, set his fastest time of 1m54.464s three quarters of the way into the hour-long session.

Prema Powerteam's Daniel Juncadella ended the session 0.241s down the road in second, seven hundredths ahead of Signature's Marco Wittmann - who is also his main rival for runner-up spot in the championship.

Kimiya Sato (Motorpark Academy) finished 0.7s behind Rosenqvist in fourth, ahead of Signature trio Carlos Munoz, Laurens Vanthoor and Daniel Abt.

All three team-mates finished within 12 hundredths of each other, with Abt in seventh just one thousandth behind Vanthoor.

Motorpark's Jimmy Eriksson was the last driver to finish within 1s of Rosenqvist's benchmark in eighth, ahead of runaway points leader Roberto Merhi, who finished 1.2s off the pace in ninth.

With Nigel Melker - fourth in the championship - missing on GP3 duty, the 12-car field was completed by Marco Sorensen, Alon Day and Gianmarco Raimondo.
