Double race winner Davies loses seat at Avanti
Matt Davies, currently third in the British Formula 3 Championship, appears to have lost his drive with Team Avanti as his seat has been put on the market
Davies secured an 11th hour deal to contest the opening rounds of the series with Avanti, on the premise that he could find the money as he went along. But the young Essex star hasn't been able to find enough finances by the deadline set by team boss Nigel Clyde.
"It was all going really well with Matt, but everyone knew we had a money problem from the first race, and we've gone as far as we can," said Clyde.
"As of today [Monday] we have one, maybe two, seats available. We've waited for sponsors with Matt and we're in a similar situation with Milos [Pavlovic, his team mate]. I have to put these seats up for sale, because I need money coming into the team," he added.
Davies has won two races for Avanti this season, at Silverstone and Snetterton, and is still searching for the cash to continue with the team. The next round of the series is at Croft on May 28.
