Donington test: Heikki on top

Fortec Motorsport's on-form ace Heikki Kovalainen gave himself a boost ahead of this weekend's British Formula 3 Championship season finale by topping today's test at Donington Park

Donington test: Heikki on top

The Finn, who won both F3 races at Thruxton last weekend, was nearly 0.3s quicker than American Richard Antinucci. Bruce Jouanny was next up in third.

Championship favourite Robbie Kerr was fourth, while his rival James Courtney could only set the 20th fastest time of the day. Kerr has an advantage of 33 points heading into the Donington finale this weekend.

"I certainly don't want it to go to the final round," said the Englishman. "With 42 points available it is a crucial weekend but I have the points advantage over James."

Scholarship Class driver Clivio Piccione was fifth fastest, just ahead of rival Robert Dahlgren.

The first race this weekend will be held on Saturday, with the second and final British F3 clash of the season taking place on Sunday.
