Docking signs Finnish champion

Juho Annala, the reigning Scandinavian Formula Ford 1800 champion, will be competing in the National class of the British Formula 3 Championship after doing a deal with Alan Docking Racing.

Docking signs Finnish champion

The 20-year-old driver from Lapua, 400 kilometres north-west of Helsinki, is being promoted by former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo in his first regular foray outside of Scandinavia.

"It is great to have achieved my aim of competing in the series," Annala noted, "and to also have Mika Salo guiding my career is more than I could dream of. I want to thank Alan Docking for helping me do this deal with one of my heroes. I now can't wait to start testing and racing,"

The team ran the Finn in tests at Donington and Silverstone late last year. "I think he has a lot of talent and so was hoping we could do this deal," team boss Docking stated. "This will only be his second season of single seater racing, but you would have never guessed this from the way he drove the F3 car.

"I was very happy to help him and Mika get together, as I know how important it is for young drivers to have the right guidance. Mika can give him invaluable advice on what happens both in and out of the car."

Annala will test the car on the 22nd February at Snetterton. The first round of the British F3 Championship will be at Donington on the 3rd April.
