Croft 1: Davison takes victory
Will Davison claimed his first British Formula 3 victory in the first of today's (Sunday) two races at Croft
The Australian started from pole position and led the race from start to finish, beating Rob Austin by 4.6s in relatively straightforward fashion.
Championship leader Alan van der Merwe had a slightly more dramatic afternoon. Starting from second on the grid, the South African cut across the track to protect his line into the first corner. This forced Steven Keohane onto the grass, and into the spin. Keohane spun right across the front of the pack in the first corner, but thankfully managed to avoid being hit. Van der Merwe continued on to finish third.
Ronnie Bremer claimed fourth, ahead of Richard Antinucci, who took fifth place from Andrew Thompson going into the hairpin on the last lap. Thompson was then spun out of the race by Ernani Judice, who himself dropped down the order with a damaged front wing.
It was a bad afternoon for Jamie Green. The Carlin ace started from unusual territory in the middle of the pack, and ended his race with a spin into the infield.
In the scholarship class, Ivor McCullough enjoyed a comfortable lead until he spun out of the race at the hairpin. This left Karun Chandho to beat Ernesto Viso for the win after an intense battle.
