Brands Hatch British F3: Jordan King tops Friday's test sessions

Jordan King topped Friday's two test sessions for he British Formula 3 International Series at Brands Hatch

King went fastest in the afternoon session, comfortably eclipsing the morning benchmark posted by Carlin team-mate Jazeman Jaafar, who is returning to F3 this weekend in order to be eligible for the Macau Grand Prix.

Jaafar was more than four tenths clear in the morning only to cause one of six red flags, which seriously ate into the two hours of running, when he went off at Sheene Curve. The Malaysian joined the afternoon session late after mechanics worked to repair his car.

Antonio Giovinazzi leapt up the order in the afternoon to be the fastest by some margin of those who have never competed at the Brands GP circuit.

The Double R Racing man headed a close-knit trio comprising Carlin's Nicholas Latifi and Jann Mardenborough, plus the Fortec Motorsport car of Buller.

Ed Jones was fastest by over a second in the National Class, before parking his smoking Team West-Tec car at Druids and triggering a red flag.

The other red flags were caused by Sean Gelael - twice, in the morning for a crash at Paddock, and in the afternoon for a trip into the gravel at Stirling's - Felipe Guimaraes - who went into the gravel at Clark Curve in the morning - and Sun Zheng, who provided the day's final off when he left the track at Druids.
