Bottas joins Prema for Macau, Korea
Williams reserve driver Valtteri Bottas will race for Prema Powerteam in the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix and Korea Super Prix next month
The Finn had initially planned to skip the end of season races this year, as he was hoping to drive for Williams in the young driver Formula 1 test at Abu Dhabi in the week leading up to Macau.
That, and concerns over the competitiveness of the Mercedes engine compared to its Volkswagen counterpart, led to F3 superteam ART Grand Prix deciding not to enter the races.
But following confirmation from Williams that GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado will test alongside Formula 2 champion Dean Stoneman at Abu Dhabi, Bottas has decided to extend his Formula 3 career for another two events.
"I look forward to working with Prema as we competed against each other for the last two years," said Bottas. "Their past experience will be a key factor to achieve a podium.
"From my side, I will give it my all as I always do and will try to bring a very strong result, not only to the team but also Mercedes-Benz and HWA."
Team principal Angelo Rosin added: "With the arrival of Valtteri, our assault on the Macau Grand Prix and Korea Super Prix has grown even more impressive.
"I've followed Valtteri as a rival in the F3 Euro Series, and I can guarantee he's been an extremely fast opponent. We're proud to have him with us."
Bottas joins Prema regular Daniel Juncadella and Mercedes-backed Roberto Merhi - who raced for Mucke Motorsport this year - to complete a three-car line-up of F3 race-winners.
