Adria qual 1: Klien to the fore

The new Adria circuit in Italy is looking like a good one for the Formula 3 rookies, as Christian Klien took his first-ever Euroseries pole for Saturday's third round

The young Austrian pipped second year driver Timo Glock (KMS Dallara-Opel) in his Mucke Motorsport-run Dallara-Mercedes by 0.073s in tricky wet conditions. The Signature Plus squad locked out row two, with Nicolas Lapierre heading Fabio Carbone in their Renault-powered Dallaras.

Simon Abadie was fifth quickest for Saulnier Racing, with Sunday's poleman Nico Rosberg sixth fastest in his Team Rosberg Dallara-Opel.

Series leader Ryan Briscoe had a miserable session and spun his way to the 10th fastest time in his PREMA-run Dallara-Opel. Olivier Pla (ASM) was 12th and Markus Winkelhock (Mucke) was 22nd - very poor by their standards.

1 Christian Klien (Mucke Motorsport) Dallara-Opel 1m25.578s
2 Timo Glock (KMS) Dallara-Opel +0.073s
3 Nicolas Lapierre (Signature Plus) Dallara-Renault +0.103s
4 Fabio Carbone (Signature Plus) Dallara-Renault +0.224s
5 Simon Abadie (Saulnier) Dallara-Renault +0.244s
6 Nico Rosberg (Team Rosberg) Dallara-Opel +0.297s
