Michael Lewis will step up to the F3 Euro Series this year with Prema Powerteam.
The 21-year-old American, who was the runner-up in last year's Italian Formula 3 Championship for the team, will partner Euro Series veteran Daniel Juncadella, who was confirmed as the squad's lead driver on Tuesday.
Lewis will drive one of four brand-new Mercedes-powered Dallara F312s that the reigning champion team will run this year, and is excited about the season ahead.
"It is great to be back with Prema Powerteam for another season in Formula 3," Lewis said. "With the hard work from [team principal] Angelo Rosin and [team manager] Rene Rosin at Prema and Mercedes-Benz HWA, our engine partner, I am excited to race in the prestigious Euro Series F3.
"The 2011 season was an exceptionally good year in my first season of Formula 3, and I look to continue that progression with such strong entities as Prema and Mercedes."
Lewis will also race at the Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort and additional FIA F3 International Trophy events in Pau and at Spa.
