Anthoine Hubert joins Van Amersfoort for 2016 European Formula 3
Formula Renault Eurocup ace Anthoine Hubert is to step up to the Formula 3 European Championship this season
The 19-year-old Frenchman has joined Van Amersfoort Racing, and completes the Dutch team's four-car Dallara-Mercedes line-up alongside Pedro Piquet, Harrison Newey and Callum Ilott.
Hubert won two races in last year's FR2.0 Eurocup, and was one of eight drivers in contention for the title going into the final round.
The 2013 French Formula 4 champion also took a dominant double in the streets of Pau last year in a wildcard outing in the FR2.0 ALPS series supporting Euro F3.
Team boss Frits van Amersfoort said: "We became more and more impressed by his skills and results, especially after his clean sweep with two pole positions and two victories in Pau.
"We invited Anthoine for a test in our simulator and he did a very solid job - he is the sort of driver who could become one of the big surprises."
Hubert, who is understood to have had an F3 test with Signature over the winter, said: "I'm obviously very motivated and excited to join this legendary team of F3 - now let's get to work!"
Elsewhere in F3, Raoul Hyman has confirmed that he will take part in this week's two-day official test at Vallelunga with Carlin, making him favourite to complete the British squad's four-car line-up.
