Jolyon Palmer will race for GP2 champion team Addax at next weekend's non-championship event at Yas Marina.
The 20-year-old Briton drove for the squad on the opening day of last month's Barcelona test, setting the 10th fastest time, and will now take part in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix support races.
"I am very happy to be driving for Addax in Abu Dhabi. I feel comfortable with the team, having recently completed two days of testing for them," Palmer said.
"With a year of GP2 experience now and having raced at Abu Dhabi at the start of the year, I am confident I will be able to run towards the front."
Addax technical director Chris Murphy said that Palmer, who raced for Arden in this year's main series, had progressed well during his test outings with the team.
"Jolyon has made good progress with us during his two days of testing at Jerez and Barcelona, and following recent preparation on the Addax driving simulator he is ready to impress at a GP2 track at which he already has experience in his first GP2 season," said Murphy.
