Alexander Rossi will race with the Campos GP2 team in Germany, replacing Kimiya Sato in what the Spanish squad says is a one-race deal.
American Rossi announced on Wednesday that he had left Caterham following the change of ownership, with the team signing Frenchman Tom Dillmann to compete in the remaining rounds of the season.
Regular Campos driver Sato will be racing at the Red Bull Ring in the Auto GP series instead.
The Japanese driver, currently leading the Auto GP standings, has decided to focus on the championship battle and is expected to return to GP2 action in Hungary.
"I'm very much looking forward to joining the Campos GP2 team this weekend in Germany," said Rossi.
"I had a chance to work with the team's technical director Philippe Gautheron during the latter part of the 2013 season, including my win in Abu Dhabi. I feel we have a very good opportunity for a strong race weekend in Hockenheim."
