Williams to keep pushing

Williams' technical director Sam Michael says the team will be working to the maximum for the remainder of the season despite the high certainty that it will finish no higher than fourth in the constructors' championship

Michael admits that the team has been faced with numerous problems this year, but believes it has entered a more settled period now.

"Quite obviously we've had a few problems in the last few races," he told the Williams team website, "But it's starting to settle down a bit now and we're starting to put in place directions for next year."

The Australian says the team will be pushing just as hard for the final four races of the season including further development work that will aid its 2005 season.

"Even if you start to lose the battle for the Championship - and obviously the Championship is gone and it's even beginning to look like finishing second or even third is not a reality - the way you finish a year is still extremely important," he said. "You need to continue development, and any development on this year's car we can generally carry over to next year's car. You never turn the year into a defined development year, it's all about learning and pushing hard this year to help next year as well."

Juan Pablo Montoya and Antonio Pizzonia are currently in Monza testing the FW26 as they prepare for next weekend's Italian Grand Prix.
