Webber Puts Monaco Behind Him

Australian Mark Webber says he has put his Monaco disappointment behind him and is concentrating on making the most of his third place on the grid for Sunday's European Grand Prix

The Williams driver was unhappy despite finishing third in Monaco last weekend for his first Formula One podium and the best result by an Australian for 24 years.

But the 28-year-old, third on the grid, made a poor start and was beaten by his teammate Nick Heidfeld, who finished second behind McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen.

"In this business it's all over in five minutes," said Webber. "You've just got to put it behind you."

Webber will not have been delighted to have finished behind Heidfeld again on Saturday at the Nurburgring, where the German claimed pole position ahead of Raikkonen.

"BMW Williams have done a good job this weekend," he said. "We came back from Monaco, here we are on a different circuit again, doing quite a good job actually, so I'm looking forward to the race.

"I could have done the last corner maybe a fraction better but to be honest when I finished the lap I knew it was a very good lap so I was happy with it.

"If we can get away well and come out of the first corner in third place then we should be okay."

The Williams team said in the week that Webber's poor start in Monaco, one of several this season and described as a "joke" by the driver, was due to a technological fault.

"I hope we have made an improvement," Webber added.

"Obviously there was an error on the start in Monaco, we are not sitting here saying we are going to smoke through the rows in front of us, is it clearly an area we are looking at and we will keep focusing hard on getting to the first corner."
