Webber can't repeat Hungarian form

Jaguar's qualifying at Monza was not nearly so stellar as some of their 2003 showings, with Mark Webber and Justin Wilson landing up 11th and 15th respectively after qualifying.

Webber ran second after a good qualifying at the last week in Hungary, but the flat-out nature of the Monza track is proving unsuitable for the Cosworth engine. Speed trap figures have shown the green cars to be consistently the slowest in a straight line this weekend, and there is not much the drivers can do to produce a good lap time.

"We are certainly not as quick here compared to some other circuits we have raced at this year," said Webber. "Naturally our competitiveness in Budapest has made the expectation level go up but it is extremely hard to be on that kind of pace at every race. We are a little disappointed but anything can happen."

The team can expect a better time tomorrow, having spent the whole of Saturday working on race set-up and strategy for the 51-lap Grand Prix. Wilson thinks he'll be able to move up the field.

"Unlike other circuits where overtaking is tough, the starting position here at Monza may not be the be-all and end-all," said Wilson. "Overtaking opportunities are plentiful. Given that I have yet to finish a race with Jaguar, my aim is to make it to the end of 51 laps tomorrow."
