Trulli: No Chance of Fighting for Title

Italian Jarno Trulli says he has no chances of fighting for this year's title despite a strong start to his Championship campaign

The Toyota driver is in third place in the drivers' standings after scoring his team's first podiums in Formula One. Trulli, however, is 32 points behind Championship leader Fernando Alonso and 10 behind McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen.

The Italian believes the fight for this year's title is over for him.

"[There] is very little chance I can do anything," said Trulli. "We have done a lot of mistakes, we lost three podiums in a row in Monaco, Nurburgring and last week Canada so I think at the end of the season that pays a lot in terms of points.

"I think it is between Alonso and Raikkonen, but I think Kimi has a higher chance. McLaren have got more pace and they have got more development and more experience than Renault.

"McLaren made a lot of mistakes at the start of the season but it is difficult to judge, one or two races can make a difference."

Trulli has also ruled out World Champion Michael Schumacher from the title fight after the Ferrari driver has scored just 24 points in eight races.

"No, to compare Kimi's car and Kimi's performance to Ferrari and Michael, I would say he has very little chance, as much as me, maybe slightly higher but not much more than that."
