Trulli Laments Early Run

Italian Jarno Trulli believes he could have clinched pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix had he not been forced to complete his flying lap so early in the session

Trulli retired on the final lap at the German Grand Prix last weekend and so was the sixth man on track in today's qualifying.

The Toyota driver finished in third place but believed a better slot was possible if he had been able to complete his flying lap when the track conditions were better.

"I am delighted about my lap and my qualifying considering I started very early in the session so the track was improving quite a lot," said Trulli. "You also have to consider that this morning I missed quite a bit of practice, I didn't use the new tyres so I didn't know much about my car and the balance.

"It was a bit of a guess but I think I have done a pretty good lap. It is very good. Disappointing, because starting a bit later we could probably have fought for pole position, but anyway I am happy with the outcome of this qualifying."

Trulli and his team have been competitive all weekend at the Hungaroring, and the Italian will start from the clean side of the track, which makes him feels confident for the race.

"Our car has been looking pretty good over the weekend, especially over one lap on new tyres, but we will see then tomorrow during the race with our strategy and out pace," said Trulli. "But so far it has been pretty good."
