Title rivals set for crucial tests

The intense battle for the Formula 1 World Championship will continue across Europe this week, with Ferrari, Williams and McLaren all beginning large testing programmes today (Tuesday), as they attempt to find a performance advantage for the next race at Indianapolis

Ferrari will test at three circuits across Europe in its efforts to help Michael Schumacher to a record sixth Drivers' championship. The main focus of the team's action will be at Jerez in Spain for three days starting today (Tuesday), although it will also run at Monza and its private Fiorano test track in Italy.

BAR, Sauber and Toyota are due to join the Italian team at Jerez.

McLaren are due to run at Barcelona for three days, where David Coulthard, Kimi Raikkonen and test driver Alex Wurz are all scheduled for action. Toyota will also take the opportunity to run at the Spanish track.

Williams has opted to stay closer to home, and will conduct a three-day test at Silverstone. Renault and Jordan - who are due to run Ralph Firman - will also test at the British circuit.

We'll have the latest news and full round-ups of every test here on autosport.com.
