But it’s not just about the atmosphere: the tight, twisty Zandvoort layout rewards commitment and bravery, with banked corners and narrow lines making it a real driver's circuit — and a challenge even for the best. Here are five things to keep in mind when planning your trip to Zandvoort.

Get to the track on a train packed with orange

Zandvoort is incredibly easy to reach by train — and it’s part of the experience. Trains from Amsterdam run frequently, especially on race weekend, and you’ll likely find yourself surrounded by Dutch fans dressed in orange, chanting and hyping themselves up for the race. It’s affordable, efficient, and drops you just a short walk from the circuit gates. Leave the rental car behind — the train is the way to go.

Cycle to the circuit — it’s the Dutch way

If you're staying closer to the track — in Haarlem or even Zandvoort itself — cycling to the race is not only possible, it's encouraged. The local infrastructure is built for bikes, and organisers provide dedicated bicycle parking. It saves time and immerses you in the Dutch lifestyle. Just be sure your route doesn’t cross the track!

Meet the drivers

Most drivers stay at the hotel directly opposite the circuit entrance, and if you’re patient (and polite), you might spot them coming or going. Fans and autograph hunters line the area all weekend — and chances of success are good, unless you’re chasing Max Verstappen. Red Bull often gets creative sneaking him in, usually dressed head-to-toe in black and riding a scooter with a helmet.

Join the party — it’s basically a festival

Zandvoort isn’t just a race — it’s a music festival with an F1 track in the middle. From the moment the gates open, the party builds, and about two hours before lights out, it turns into a full-blown concert. DJs blast club tracks, the crowd sings together, and even those on the grid can’t ignore the energy. Verstappen fan or not, you’ll be humming “Max, Max, super Max!” for days. It’s genuinely contagious.

Zandvoort is a beach town, but you’re just 30 minutes from one of Europe’s great cities. Amsterdam offers canals, museums, culture, and incredible food — and makes a great base if you’re staying for a few nights.
