World championship leader Mika Hakkinen topped the times in Sunday morning's Belgian Grand Prix warm-up after the session was red-flagged to a halt when Giancarlo Fisichella crashed his Benetton. The Italian lost control of his car at the Stavelot corner and collided heavily with the barriers, tearing off both right wheels of the car.

He was unhurt but the session was halted for 23 minutes.

Hakkinen, seeking a third successive title this season and hunting his first win in Belgium, was fastest in his McLaren ahead of title rival Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari.

Hakkinen clocked a best time of 2:03.392 at an average speed of 203.293 kph on a wet track.

He outpaced Schumacher by just one-tenth of a second.

Briton Jenson Button was third-fastest in his Williams, only two-thousandths of a second behind the German double world champion.
