• Sebastian Vettel scored his 13th pole, going level with Graham Hill, Jack Brabham, Jacky Ickx, Jacques Villeneuve and Juan Pablo Montoya at 23rd in the all-time rankings
• Thirteenth season pole for Red Bull, the second-highest all-time tally behind the 15 poles recorded in 1988, 1989 (McLaren), 1992 and 1993 (Williams)
