Sauber confirms Liuzzi test
As revealed by autosport.com on Saturday, Sauber has confirmed that recently-crowned Formula 3000 International champion Vitantonio Liuzzi will test for the Swiss team at Jerez later this month

The 22-year-old Italian, who shares a common sponsor with Sauber in Red Bull, will test its C23 chassis at Jerez on September 16. It will be Liuzzi's second run in an F1 car following his outing with Williams at the end of 2002.
"While there have been several indications in the past showing that Vitantonio has a lot of talent, what has impressed me most is the way in which he has been dominating Formula 3000 this year," said team principal Peter Sauber. "During this test we want to get a feeling for how he is able to apply his skills to a Formula 1 car."
Sauber also told Autosport this week: "Of course the Red Bull connection is an important point for us, but first we have to look for a competitive driver. You have to look for the best possibility you can find."
Sauber also confirmed that it will test 'one or two other drivers' at a later date. British young guns Anthony Davidson and Gary Paffett have been tipped to get runs, although Liuzzi remains a hot favourite for the seat.
