Richards Plays Down Villeneuve Talks

BAR-Honda team boss David Richards said on Saturday that he has spoken with Jacques Villeneuve about the Canadian's Formula One future but said the pair have not entered discussions about a return to the team.
Villeneuve was quoted as saying in The Sun newspaper that he would be interested in a return to the grid next season with BAR, the team who ditched him at the end of last year.
The former World Champion has spent the year training towards a return to the sport and was immediately linked with BAR after Jenson Button announced he will move to Williams next season.
But Richards said he would not be talking to any drivers until the Contract Recognition Board (CRB) make a verdict on whether BAR have a firm contract with Button in place for 2005.
"He (Villeneuve) called me and we had a chat about things as have a lot of people," Richards said when asked about the talks with Villeneuve. "We will resolve the current situation first (before opening any discussions with drivers)."
