Ralf Never Considered Quitting

Ralf Schumacher said he never considered quitting Formula One following his back-breaking crash in last year's United States Grand Prix and insisted he has no fear of heading back out on track at the Indianapolis this season

Schumacher was hospitalised when he crashed his Williams backwards into the wall at high speed during last year's race and later discovered he had fractured his back in two places.

He still does not remember the crash, which caused him to miss six races, and said: "We go to other dangerous or quick circuits during the season and things can happen to the car.

"Things happen like the tyre failure that I had here last year or whatever. But that is the way it is and you cannot fear it. If you fear that then you better stop -- but I have never thought about it that way so far.

"I still don't remember anything about it and I have had no flashbacks. I saw the accident in the hospital on the same night, saw the race again, but there really was nothing special about it."

Schumacher has recovered after moving to Toyota this season but he has so far been out-performed by team-mate Jarno Trulli and is chasing an improved result this weekend.

But he believes that it is already too late for Toyota to fight back and get back into the world title race this season and said they must set lower aims for the rest of the year.

"I think for the Toyota team it has been a great season so far although for me personally I made a few mistakes at the beginning of the year and I was a bit unlucky on some occasions," said Schumacher.

"I think it is more than we thought at the beginning of the season but I don't think we will challenge (for the championship). We will re-emerge but what we have achieved is already great so we must not set the targets too high."
