Ralf looking ahead to 2003
Williams driver Ralf Schumacher believes his team needs to show well against Ferrari at next weekend's Hungarian GP if it is to stand a chance of taking the fight to the Italians in the 2003 championship
The German is one of four drivers vying for second place in the championship, but says he's more interested in what the team can achieve next year.
"The motivation is not so much about winning second place in the drivers' championship, but about our intention to catch up with Ferrari before the end of the season," he said. "If we don't manage this, it will make next season very difficult. Budapest will indicate how strong we could be in the future."
Juan Pablo Montoya is looking to getting back into a racing car after spending some time relaxing with his friends and family in Miami during F1's mid-season break. The Colombian, who's defending second place in the championship, rates the Hungarian round as one of his favourite GPs and hopes this will be rewarded with a good result.
"Hungary is a highlight in the season as far as I am concerned because like Budapest," he said. "The track has a fiddly layout, perhaps more like a kart track than a true F1 circuit. Even if it's not one of my favourite tracks, I definitely intend to make the most of it."
Williams has a great record at the twisty track having won there seven times in the past. However, its win last came back in 1997, when Jacques Villeneuve triumphed on his way to the world championship.
