Raikkonen Happy after 'Easy' Victory
Spanish Grand Prix winner Kimi Raikkonen described his victory as 'easy', after dominating the race at the Circuit de Catalunya on Sunday
The McLaren driver led from lights to flag to take his first win of the season and was untroubled throughout - especially after extending a massive lead in his opening stint prior to the first pitstops.
"The car was very good," said Raikkonen. "The car has been perfect all weekend and we knew that we should be pretty strong in this race.
"I think at the beginning I pushed until the pitstop and then I saw I was leading so I thought there was no point to push any more. I thought 'let's keep the pace up and not go full speed.' And I won quite easily."
Raikkonen's victory erased the nightmare of the San Marino Grand Prix, where his was forced out of the event with a driveshaft problem while comfortably in the lead.
Talking about the worries about reliability, he said: "Of course you can never be 100 percent sure until you cross the finish line because something can always happen. But so far this race it was perfect.
"I had a small problem with one pit-stop, where the engine did not run clean when I pulled away, but I don't know what it was.
"The tyres were pretty good and this circuit is not so hard on tyres as it used to be. I could have pushed harder if I wanted to."
