Prost solve reliability woes

The Prost team seems to have put their reliability worries behind them with after both drivers covered 1650km between them over the recent four-day test at Barcelona

Prost claim "the majority of reliability problems seems to be solved," meaning the team can now concentrate on improving performance.

"The improvements we bring for this Grand Prix are some small aerodynamic changes on the front wing we tested last week and small modifications to the floor," confirmed Sporting Director John Walton.

The Englishman also confirmed the changes had aided the endurance of the Peugeot engine, stating: "We have also made some modifications to the oil system in order to increase the engine reliability.

"On Friday, we plan to run the Peugeot A20 EV2 engine, the same as we have had all season, but with the addition of variable trumpets. For Saturday and Sunday, we will then switch to the EV3."

Walton believes that, though slight speed improvements were made with the new parts, this would not improve their position relative to the other teams. Rather, the reliability gains would present the most significant boost to the team's progress.

"Frankly, we do not think our position can really change at the moment, but we have gained a lot on the reliability level," he explained. "Our target is to get both cars to finish the race. Without speaking of fighting for positions, at this stage we know performance will come little by little by tackling our development programme."
