Podcast: Could Bottas have beaten Hamilton in the British Grand Prix
Whether Valtteri Bottas could have beaten Mercedes Formula 1 team-mate Lewis Hamilton to British Grand Prix victory is the main talking point on the latest episode of The Autosport Podcast
Bottas led from pole and fended off Hamilton in the opening laps - which included him being passed by then repassing the five-time world champion through a breathtaking sequence of corners on lap four - but his race was compromised by a safety-car period that gave Hamilton a significant advantage.
Edd Straw is joined by Scott Mitchell and Jake Boxall-Legge to discuss whether Bottas's two-stop strategy would have paid off without the safety car, or if Hamilton's race pace and tyre management was simply too good.
They also consider the battle behind for third between the Ferraris and Red Bulls - which ultimately went the way of Charles Leclerc when Sebastian Vettel punted Max Verstappen out of the position.
Wider topics, including the characteristics of the Silverstone circuit and why the track continues to produce exciting grands prix, are also covered.
