Brazilian driver Antonio Pizzonia was quickest for the second consecutive day in testing at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.

Brazilian driver Antonio Pizzonia was quickest for the second consecutive day in testing at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.

Pizzonia lapped the Spanish circuit over sixth tenths of a second quicker than on the first day.

Japanese Formula Three driver Katsuyuki Hiranaka made his debut at the wheel of a Grand Prix car, taking over from Frenchman Franck Perera as Toyota evaluate more young drivers. Hiranaka, who like Perera is part of the Toyota junior team, completed a total of 52 laps with the TF104.

The Japanese driver finished at the bottom of the times, over two seconds behind Brazilian Ricardo Zonta, who at the wheel of the TF104B posted the second quickest time behind Pizzonia.

Canadian Jacques Villeneuve joined the test today, working alongside Renault's test driver Franck Montagny. The former World Champion caused the first red flag of the day when he went off the track at the Angel Nieto corner after having completed just six laps. Villeneuve finished the day as fifth quickest, nearly three tenths of a second behind Montagny.

McLaren's Alexander Wurz and Pedro de la Rosa continued with the team's preparations for the Brazilian Grand Prix, the Austrian finishing in front of the Spaniard, who had a busy day with over 100 laps completed.

Brazilian Enrique Bernoldi, at the wheel of the only BAR-Honda in action at Jerez, had a marathon session, covering a massive 135 laps on his way to the seventh fastest time. Jaguar's tester Bjorn Wirdheim was eighth with the R5.
