Pizzonia could test Champ Car

Williams test driver Antonio Pizzonia has admitted that he is no rush to make a decision about whether he will turn his back on Formula 1 this year and make the switch to Champ Car racing, even though he has hinted that he may be about to test in the States in the next few days

Pizzonia failed to land the second seat at Williams this year, as the team opted for Nick Heidfeld, and he has made no secret of the fact that he wants to get back to racing as soon as possible.

His manager, Jaime Brito, has already travelled to the United States to check on the state of play and, speaking to autosport.com during testing at Barcelona this week, Pizzonia confessed his mind was not yet made up.

"The most important thing is that I don't want to do anything stupid, or rush myself into a decision," said Pizzonia. "I want to race where I have a chance to do well and Champ Cars seems to be the ideal solution for me at the moment.

"I'm talking to some teams and I may do a test there in the next few days. But I want to be in F1, so it's a difficult thing to decide. That's why I'm thinking it through and taking my time, because I want to do what will be the best thing for my career."

Although most of the front-running teams in Champ Cars have already chosen their line-ups, one possibility for the Brazilian is to be given a third car at Newman/Haas.

When asked whether that was the main option Pizzonia said: "Well, it's not a secret Newman/Haas is considering the possibility to run a third car for me, but there are other possibilities too."
