The Paul Ricard circuit has received an award for its "beauty and design linked to safety and security" at the 18th Grand Prix du Festival Automobile that took place in Paris this week.
The Paul Ricard circuit has received an award for its "beauty and design linked to safety and security" at the 18th Grand Prix du Festival Automobile that took place in Paris this week.
The French circuit, owned by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone since 1999, is currently used for testing by some Formula One teams after undergoing a major revamp in the past couple of years.
Philippe Gurdjian, CEO of Excelis, the company behind Paul Ricard HTTT (High Tech Test Track) - as the circuit is now officially known - was delighted with the award.
"I am honestly very honoured to receive this award for the Circuit Paul Ricard HTTT," said Gurdjian. "After two years of intense work with efficient and motivated teams, I can say today, that the now called Circuit Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track is the first test track of the third millennium.
"Everything is new and there was place for compromise. I thought, imagined and conceived this track for the safety of the drivers, for the pleasure of driving, for the comfort of the teams and the sponsors and to optimise the data on the track."
