Frenchman Olivier Panis was the surprising pace setter in the morning session on the fourth day of testing at the Barcelona circuit in Spain.
The Toyota driver, on the final day of work for the Japanese squad at the Spanish track, showed impressive pace at the wheel of the new TF103 car, which was unveiled last week in France. Panis finished ahead of McLaren's David Coulthard, the man who had set the pace on the last two days of testing with his MP4-17.
Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya was third quickest after only nine laps with the Williams, while Finn Kimi Raikkonen, who began testing yesterday, was fourth quickest ahead of McLaren teammate Alexander Wurz.
Briton Anthony Davidson took to the wheel of the new BAR 005, replacing Briton Jenson Button, and set the seventh quickest time, lapping more than half a second quicker than Button on Wednesday.
Antonio Pizzonia took over from teammate Mark Webber at the wheel of the only Jaguar on track, the young Brazilian finishing as eighth fastest. Italian Jarno Trulli, who missed the first day of work after feeling unwell, was back behind the wheel of the Renault today, finishing at the bottom of the times.
Testing continues in the afternoon.
