Minardi to test 2002 Arrows at Mugello

Minardi will hold a back-to-back test of its current PS03 Formula 1 car with the 2002 Arrows A23 machine, which team owner Paul Stoddart purchased at an auction in June, at Mugello next week

The test was due to take place at Rockingham Motor Speedway several weeks ago, but was delayed by F1's summer testing ban, and the need to give new driver Nicolas Kiesa enough mileage to secure his super-licence before the German Grand Prix.

"We will let Jos [Verstappen] drive both cars," Stoddart said, according to Reuters. "I need some accurate driver reports on certain parts of the Arrows to see whether we are going to incorporate it in next year's car.

"The test should have happened already, but when we did the driver swap with Nicolas, I had to use the one and only test I could get away with for his super-licence."

The Arrows A23 was designed by Mike Coughlin, who now works for McLaren, and scored two points, despite only racing for part of the season before the team went bankrupt. Minardi is the only team in F1 yet to score a point this season.
