Minardi could switch tyre supplier
Minardi could switch tyre suppliers and defect from Michelin to Bridgestone for the 2003 Formula 1 season, according to a report in this week's AUTOSPORT magazine. An announcement is expected in the next week
The F1 minnow's decision to switch over to the Japanese rubber is understood to coincide with the fact that fellow Cosworth engine-runner Jordan will also be using Bridgestone tyres, having extended its deal for another year.
This should make it easier for Minardi to select the right compound of tyre to use during a grand prix weekend given that Jordan has also selected to make use of the two-hour Friday test session at the races.
Minardi team boss Paul Stoddart remained tight-lipped on any possible Bridgestone however. "A deal is not done yet," he said.
