McLaren on Top in Practice 4 - Italy

McLaren duo Kimi Raikkonen and Juan Pablo Montoya made their mark at Monza when they secured the top two times in the final practice session ahead of Saturday's qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix

McLaren have been on the pace all weekend and Raikkonen set a time of 1:20.916 to lead the session and finish 0.402 seconds ahead of Montoya as the teams completed their final race preparations.

BAR-Honda driver Takuma Sato was the best of the rest, finishing 0.483 seconds behind Raikkonen, with Championship leader Fernando Alonso 0.632 seconds back in fourth.

Home driver Jarno Trulli, of Toyota, secured the fifth fastest time with Italian Giancarlo Fisichella sixth, just more than four tenths behind his Renault teammate Alonso.

Australian Mark Webber continued Williams' strong form at the low-downforce circuit with seventh place but his injured teammate Nick Heidfeld's replacement Antonio Pizzonia could only manage 15th.

The Red Bull drivers David Coulthard and Christian Klien finished eighth and ninth and World Champion Michael Schumacher could not match his second-placed first practice finish and ended tenth.

Schumacher made a mistake that saw him clatter across the gravel then Dutch Minardi driver Christijan Albers was a late spinner when he rotated his car in the final sector

But Narain Karthikeyan was fortunate to escape when he spun at the Variante della Roggia in his Jordan and crashed sideways into the tyre wall.
