Massa hails 'amazing' fightback

Felipe Massa was delighted to fight back to win the European Grand Prix following his heartbreaking exit in Hungary three weeks ago

The Brazilian, who lost a sure victory in Budapest with three laps to go, dominated the Valencia race, taking his fourth win of the season ahead of McLaren rival Lewis Hamilton.

"I think it is amazing," said Massa after the race. "After such a bad result to come here to a new track which was new for everybody...

"We did a fantastic job. There is nothing more we can ask for, especially after such a bad result, which we still need to work on as we had another problem with Kimi.

"We have to move forward and there are so many important races in front. I am so happy after such a disaster in Hungary," added Massa, who started from pole and also set the fastest lap of the race.

Massa's win, however, is still in doubt after the stewards said they would investigate a pitlane incident, which saw Massa and Force India's Adrian Sutil nearly making contact, after the race.

"I stopped behind him we left together," said Massa. "When he was passing by we were side by side. I was the leader and he was a lapped car. The wall was narrow, I didn't want to take the risk."

The result allowed Massa to move into second place in the championship, overtaking Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen, who retired with a broken engine.

It was the second engine failure for Ferrari in two races, and Massa reckons they need to work hard to improve their reliability.

"We need to look at what has happened because I have no idea," he said. "I know that Kimi blew an engine. We need to look at that and we need to work very hard for the next races.

"The reliability has been an issue for us, especially in the first race, the last race and in this race. We need to work very hard and everyone is concentrating very hard to solve any problem we have."
