Massa confirmed for Japanese return

Sauber has confirmed that Felipe Massa will return to the race team for next week's Japanese Grand Prix after the Brazilian was replaced by Heinz-Harald Frentzen for the US race in Indianapolis

Two races ago at Monza, Massa was penalised for an incident with Jaguar's Pedro de la Rosa.

The Formula 1 rookie was docked 10 places on the Indy grid and team boss Peter Sauber decided to avoid the penalty by replacing him with Frentzen for the race. Frentzen has been signed to replace Massa at the team for next year.

Despite doubts that Massa would not return for the final race, Sauber confirmed at the end of this week's three-day Mugello test that he will compete at Suzuka.

Massa completed two days of running at the Italian track, while team-mate Nick Heidfeld took over for the final sessions on Thursday. Ferrari's Luca Badoer was the only other driver running at the test.
