Mass redundancies at Arrows
The remaining staff at Arrows have been made redundant, almost certainly signalling the end of one of Formula 1's oldest yet least successful teams
Around 200 staff now find themselves out of work, but as many of them are thought to have been unpaid for the last four months the news was bittersweet. At least now they can embark on process of finding another job.
All that remains of Arrows is now its factory and old cars and spares. Potential investor Oliver Behring is thought to have arranged a meeting with the FIA to discuss the decision to deny the team an entry into the 2003 championship, but this latest news will do little to help his cause.
Arrows' financial troubles came to light at this year's British Grand Prix, when the cars missed Friday Free Practice while a deal was struck with engine supplier Cosworth over payment for its V10 engines.
Both drivers deliberately failed to qualify for the next race at Magny-Cours, but the team raced once again at the German GP. This would be the team's last race of the season, and it missed the final five rounds of the season.
