Macau winner Jarvis seeks F1 test chance

Macau Grand Prix winner Oliver Jarvis is hoping that his victory in Formula Three's blue-ribband event at the weekend will open the door to a Formula One test deal next year

The Briton put in one of the most dominant performances seen in Macau in recent years to take what he openly admitted was the biggest triumph of his career.

And he told autosport.com that he is keeping his fingers crossed that the performance is enough to convince an F1 team to give him a testing chance for 2008.

"F1 is certainly the aim, but it is very difficult," said Jarvis, who raced in the Japanese Formula Three Championship this year.

"There are very few options. I would hope that a test drive might be possible, and I would hope that we could approach a few teams on the back of this result."

Jarvis does not have the luxury of huge sponsorship funding next year, so is not sure if he will be able to make the step up to GP2 for his racing. He is hopeful, however, that he can secure a drive - perhaps in the Japanese Formula Nippon category.

"I am not sure what I am going to do next year, but I am definitely keeping my options open. I was talking to TOM'S about competing in Formula Three again, but at the moment I believe they want a driver who can compete again in Macau next year.

"I am looking at going back to Europe or even competing in Formula Nippon next year. I am keeping my options open. At the moment budget is a big problem, but hopefully this will help and some more opportunities will come up."
