Klien Confident of Landing Red Bull Seat

Christian Klien believes that he is the favourite to be given a race seat alongside David Coulthard at Red Bull Racing next year

The Austrian has shone during his selected outings for the team this year and is in a battle with Vitantonio Liuzzi to be given the nod for 2006.

And although the team have said that no decision will be taken about which driver will land the seat next year until after the season, Klien believes the fact that he has been called up to race again at Spa this weekend means he is currently the team's favoured option.

"For sure there is no decision yet, but before the season we said we (Klien and Liuzzi) would do 50-50 of the races and I have already done a lot more, so it seems to me that the team have confidence in me," said Klien.

"I think I have done a reasonably good job. I have finished nine races and in four of them I was in the points.

"Again this weekend is an important race for me. I really like the circuit here, I did a good job last year here so I think that's a good reason to have a good finish here and then step by step to reach my target, to race for Red Bull next year as well."

Klien has only been confirmed for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, with Liuzzi possibly getting called up to return for the final three races of the season.

Speaking about whether he expected to be replaced, Klien said: "I already thought in Hungary that it would be my last race this year but the team believed in me and showed that I did a good job for the team, so I got another two races in Turkey and Monza and now another race here in Spa, so hopefully we can do again a good job.

"For the last three races everything is open and if I do a good job here I think it is possible to do another race."
