Kimi tries his hand at DTM
Not to be out-done by his fellow countryman Mika Hakkinen, McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen has taken to the track in regular driver Jean Alesi's Mercedes C-Class DTM car ahead of the German manufacturer's traditional Mercedes-Benz Stars & Cars event at the DaimlerChrysler Stuttgart-Untertürkheim plant tomorrow (Saturday)

The test, which took place at Hockenheim, was supposed to be a bit of fun, but after several laps the Finn was on the pace and by the end of his session set times that came close to matching those set by the regular DTM drivers at the championship round on the German circuit last month.
It will be the fourth year that Raikkonen attends the Mercedes event where fans can meet and greet the drivers and have a close-up look at the cars. "Every year, the Stars & Cars day is a great event. I look forward to meeting thousands of enthusiastic fans," Raikkonen said.
Hakkinen carried out a test for Mercedes last month, but, unlike Raikkonen, is considering a drive in the series next year where he could team up with former F1 rivals Alesi and Heinz-Harald Frentzen. The Finn is also believed to be considering a return to Formula 1 with Williams.
