JPM aims to blow Kimi away
McLaren's new signing Juan Pablo Montoya says he can't wait to leave Williams and begin a rivalry with new team-mate Kimi Raikkonen in 2005
But, far from the battle between the two causing havoc within the team, the Colombian, who ended his season with Williams with a win in Brazil last month, believes the competitive atmosphere between the two will take the duo to another level.
"He'll want to blow me away and I aim to do the same thing to him," he told Auto Bild Motorsport. The duel will bring both of us forward. A new team is like a new toy. I feel like it's my first day at school."
Montoya couldn't resist having a dig at Williams' engine suppliers BMW, and former team-mate Ralf Schumacher.
"It was strange," Montoya said of the German manufacturer. "In 2003 the cooperation was super at times. But BMW was getting more demanding in all areas. I don't know exactly what happened and what's normal in Formula 1 between two partners."
Of Schumacher he said: "He's very good on his better days. He can be very fast. But he has days where he has no interest. He's not the same. It's a mystery to me."
