Jordan set to sign Arrows chief designer
Jordan is tipped to sign Arrows chief designer Eghbal Hamidy to fill the vacancy in its design team created by the departure of Mike Gascoyne, who is moving to Benetton
Hamidy, who worked at Williams and then Stewart before joining Arrows, is renowned for his skills as an aerodynamicist, and much of the progress made by this year's Arrows A21 has been attributed to his input.
Hamidy reportedly resigned from Arrows on Monday and, like Gascoyne, is now on 'gardening leave' as he remains under contract to Arrows.
When asked to comment on Hamidy's move, a Jordan spokesman said that such a story was "wild speculation", while the Arrows press office said that it could make no comment.
A source said: "The deal is done, it is just a question of when he [Hamidy] will start."
The terms of Hamidy's departure and his start date at Jordan are believed to be still under discussion. For reasons of confidentiality, he is not expected to be allowed to start working at Jordan until the New Year.
