Jordan Boosted by EJ15B Pace

Jordan may have been back in their customary slot near the back of the field at Magny-Cours following their podium finish in the United States Grand Prix, but there were still plenty of reasons to be happy after an encouraging run for the team's new EJ15B

Third driver Robert Doornbos completed 45 laps with the revised car during both sessions, and the team were impressed that the new chassis managed to outpace the current version of the car - even though it has still not been fully developed.

"I had a lot of fun today driving the new car," said Doornbos. "Everybody was very keen and focused on the programme. There is a definite improvement over the old car but we still need to do some work on the set-up.

"We made big step forward in this area in the afternoon."

The team decided to delay the race debut of the EJ15B because of reliability concerns with the car, and it is not expected to make its first competitive outing until the German Grand Prix later this month.

Sporting director Adrian Burgess was pleased with how much work the team had been able to conduct with the new car on Friday.

"Robert did a good job as normal and put another 200 kilometres on the new car, which allowed us to gain very valuable information and solve some of the issues we had.  It was a very productive day for the EJ15B."

Jordan's encouragement with the EJ15B made up for Tiago Monteiro's difficult day when he broke his suspension after spinning across the kerbs at the final chicane.
