Jaguar Racing targets points finish at Indy

Jaguar Racing has targeted another points finish from its drivers in this weekend's US Grand Prix to back-up Mark Webber's seventh place in the last race at Monza, as the Milton Keynes based team continues to fight for fifth place in the constructors' championship

The Bridgestone-shod BAR-Honda team and Michelin runners Jaguar Racing and Toyota are separated by just four points in the constructors' table as they head into the final two races of the season, so a strong finish at Indianapolis is vital for Jaguar.

This only adds to the pressure on Justin Wilson who has not finished a race since making his debut for the team in the German GP at Hockenheim and has been regularly outpaced by his Australian team-mate Webber. For the Englishman to earn his place with the team in 2004, he desperately needs a good showing this weekend.

"I have never raced at Indianapolis so this is going to be a tough weekend for me," Wilson said. "I know that I have yet to finish a race so there will be some pressure to see it to the finish line here in front of our parent company's backyard, but it's nothing that I can't handle! The team has been nothing but supportive since I joined and I simply want to see the finish line to prove my worth."

Jaguar Racing's MD David Pitchforth emphasised the team's support by saying: "As always we will be focusing on our race strategy over the weekend but will also be ensuring that Justin makes the most of Friday testing since this is a new track for him. This is where Friday testing really helps the driver and the team."
