Horner Happy after Threat Lifted

Red Bull boss Christian Horner was pleased after Formula One's governing body lifted the threat of sanctions against seven Michelin teams over the United States Grand Prix fiasco

After a meeting on Thursday in Monaco, the FIA Senate recommended cancelling a guilty verdict against Renault, McLaren, Williams, Toyota, Red Bull, Sauber and BAR.

The meeting was attended by McLaren boss Ron Dennis and Red Bull's Horner.

"I think it is a good outcome, sensible," said Horner. "Now we can put it all behind us. The FIA has listened and acted accordingly, they have acted in the interest of the sport and now we need to draw a line underneath this.

"We have dealt with Indy and nobody came away with a positive result. There were no winners from that, everyone lost. Michelin have taken on the responsibilities of compensation and they are dealing with that.

"The teams' guilty verdict has been turned around, so now we have to move on."

Horner also expressed his delight after FIA president Max Mosley moved to avoid the teams getting penalised.

"I think he acted in the best interests of Formula One with the evidence submitted in front of the senate," he added.

Thursday's meeting came against a backdrop of thawing relations between the FIA and the teams after the sport teetered on the brink of crisis in the immediate aftermath of Indianapolis.

Minardi boss Paul Stoddart called for Mosley to resign but others have made more conciliatory noises recently.

"It is a difficult one," added Horner. "The FIA is a huge entity and it is a question of who would replace him? Who could do the job better? Nobody stands out."
