Hamilton the early favourite to triumph in Canada according to Castrol EDGE Grand Prix Predictor users

Lewis Hamilton is the early favourite to triumph in the Hungarian Grand Prix according to users of the Castrol EDGE Grand Prix Predictor

The Briton, fastest in both Friday practice sessions at the Hungaroring, currently leads the way after earning a victory nomination from 29 per cent of Predictor users.

That leaves him marginally ahead of Sebastian Vettel, who collects 28 per cent of the vote despite Red Bull being forced to adapt its engine mapping to a new FIA technical directive.

There is similarly little to separate Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, winner of the past two grands prix, and Jenson Button in the second McLaren, with the pair tipped for glory by 16 and 14 per cent of Predictor users respectively.

Kimi Raikkonen meanwhile has been selected to win by just four per cent of users - enough for him to be fifth favourite, but way down on Hamilton despite the Finn lapping within two tenths of the 2008 world champion in second practice.

Hamilton's status as favourite also extends to qualifying, with a sizeable 35 per cent of users backing him to land his third pole position of 2012.

Vettel meanwhile is the slight favourite to record the fastest lap of the race, with 23 per cent of users currently selecting him for the accolade.
