Hakkinen not worried

Mika Hakkinen has put his practice place two behind his team-mate David Coulthard down to the team playing with different car set-ups

The World Champion who has won here for the past two years, wound up seventh quickest at the end of the first day's practice for the race in Barcelona.

He did not appear too concerned to be 1.3 seconds behind arch rival Michael Schumacher at the head of the time sheets.

Hakkinen is bidding to reduce Schumacher's 22-point lead going into the fifth round of the World Championship.

"The conditions today were very different from last week's test. There was a lack of grip, and as result it was difficult to find the optimum balance of the car," said the Finn.

"I don't know why the track was slippery. It's probably the high temperatures today.

"David and I were testing different set-ups and we will wait and see what happens in qualifying."

Barcelona is McLaren's second 'home' circuit because they test here through most of the winter.
